1.Introduction : Man may know God in many ways as He reveals
His glory in nature. Besides, we can also know about God and His nature through
consciousness and senses. But God reveal Himself in the Bible in a special way.
We can know God and His plan for us clearly through the Bible. Therefore, king
David declared to God :
“Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my
path.”( Psalm 119:105)
This means, the Word of God is the guide for man to know God
and tells us how to live a godly life. Let
us discuss the reason briefly below:

a). The Bible is called “the Word of God,” or “Scripture,”
b). The Bible is the written word of God.
c) The Bible tells us about everything we need to know about
God and His work and purpose.
d) The Bible records the life and teaching of Jesus Christ.
e) The Bible tells us how to become the follower of Jesus Christ
and how to be with God and receive His blessings.
3. Why the Bible is
Call the Word of God :
a) God Reveals
Himself in a Special Way in The Bible : The Bible tells us Who God is, as God “revealed
[His plan] to His holy apostles and prophets” (Ephesians 3:5). God began
revealing His plan to people many thousands of years ago. He revealed Himself
personally to Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and other prophets. He also revealed
His plan for His people and made covenant with them when they responded Him in “faith”
(Genesis 15:6). God also led them and taught them His ways.
b) The Bible Records the
Revelation of God in Written : These plans were written in laws and holy
letters. God also inspired His followers to record the great things He did in
their lives, and to write about what He’s like.
c) The Bible is the Collection of Records : The Bible is not
one book of one message. It is a collection of many books about God’s messages
to His people through many ages of the history of His people.
d) The Bible is a Special Revelation of God : Through God reveals Himself in nature in many
ways, He reveal Himself and His plan for His people clearly in the Bible.
Therefore, the Bible is called the Special Revelation of God.
4.The Bible is a Guide
to God :
a) The Bible is the Gospel of God : God give the messages of
His love and plan to save all people. This message is called ‘God News’ or ‘Gospel’.
This Gospel tell us how to become God’s children and receive His blessings.
b) The Bible is the Inspired Word of God : The Apostle Paul
described God’s Scripture as “inspired by God, useful to teach us what is
true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we
are wrong and teaches us to do what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16).
c) The Bible Help : Reading the Bible helps you learn to
trust God’s Holy Spirit, rather than yourself, so “that you may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17) which God calls
you to.
5. The Bible is Life
Giving Word of God :
a)The message in the Bible is the powerful word of God that
change lives and gives life. One can become God’s child and have eternal live
with God by reading the Bible and following the instructions.
b) The Bible is the Spiritual Food : Man has a living soul. Man has many physical needs
and also has spiritual need. Therefore, Jesus says, “Man can not live by
bread alone, but by every word that comes from God’” (Matthew 4:4). Just as our
physical bodies gain energy from daily meals, so our spiritual lives gain power
from daily intake of God’s Word.
c) Read the Bible to Be With God : Read the Bible daily with prayer. It will
bring you closer to God as you regularly read the Bible with prayer. You will grow in faith. God will be with you
and help you overcome evil in your life. He will bless you abundantly.
