A man
with leprosy came to him (Jesus) and begged him on his knees,
“If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus was indignant (filled
with compassion). He reached out his hand and touched the man,
“I am willing,” he said. “Be
clean!”
Immediately the leprosy
left him and he was cleansed. Jesus
sent him away at once with a strong warning:
“See that you don’t tell
this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the
sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to
them.”
Instead he went out and began to talk freely,
spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but
stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from
everywhere.’ (Mark 1:40-45)
Friends, this Man knew his
disease was not curable in known medicines and had no hope but to die. One day,
he heard Jesus healed any disease and fully believed what he heard. He wanted
to request Jesus to heal him but, he did not consider himself worthy to get
favour. However, there were only to ways for him – whether to approach Jesus for
healing his leprosy or die. Later, having no alternative, he approached Jesus
with a humble request, using the most humbly submission word “if you are
willing”.
Jesus knew the faith of
that person and how he humbled himself. Jesus looked at him and knowing his
hopeless condition, the only hope he has was on Him (Jesus) alone. If He did
not help, the man will die sooner or later due to leprosy. Jesus, having
compassion, simply said “I am
willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
See, how much powerful are
the words come from Jesus, the Bible tells us “Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed” just after He
said “Be clean!”
We must also know that we
are born sinner, born from sinners’ blood through Adam and Eve (man and woman)
and must die with eternal death because of sin. We also have learnt Jesus is
the Saviour of the world (sinners) and must believe what we heard. You must
also consider yourself sinner, unworthy to be saved, must approach Jesus with
humble request to be saved from sin or meet eternal condemnation.
So, humble yourself; knell
down with prayer before Jesus and request Him to help you. He will surely help
you and give you what you want. He will also bless you with a Saved New Life, A
Blessed Life in Jesus. Pray like this :
“Lord, I am a born of
sinner, only to die. Sin controls me! I am but a slave to sin. I have no power
to overcome this Sinful nature in me. I learnt Jesus died on the cross to save
me from sin. Thank You for that. Now, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and
Saviour. I request Him save me from the clutch of Sin and give me a New Life. I
invite Him to His seat on the throne of my life to control and direct my life
in His pleasure. Please send the Holy Spirit to help me live a worthy life for
You. In my
Lord and Saviour Jesus name, Amen.“
Secondly, let us also
consider the second point here. Jesus healed the leper but warned him not to
tell the story to others. However, his joy could no longer keep him silent and
told about the good news that Jesus healed him. And by learning the good news
from the leper, many became the believer of Jesus.
‘A Joyful heart cannot keep silent!’
When we know Jesus helped us
in our need and also saved us from sin, we must not keep silent. We must also
share our joy with others and ‘love others as we love ourselves’. The best way
to love others is to share the Good news of Jesus Christ. Let us help others
learn about the love of God for all. Jesus also commanded His disciples ( and
all who enjoy a saved life in Him)
“All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age.”(Matthew 28:18-20)
