The Holy Spirit is ‘Helper’, Guide’,
‘Instructor’ and ‘Comforter of the followers of Jesus Christ.
When we received Jesus Christ as Lord and
Saviour, God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us live a God’s will life.
This is the fulfillment of what the
prophet John the Baptist says, "I baptize you
with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I,
whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy
Spirit and with fire.” ."( Matthew 3:11 RSV)
This is the fulfillment of what the
Lord says through prophet Joel, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will
pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your
daughters
shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see
visions.." (Joel 2:28 RSV)
The Bible here called the Holy Spirit a‘ seal’, which God
put on us, claiming us ‘redeemed and forgiven’. “In him you also, who have heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with
the promised Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 1:13
RSV)
The Holy Spirit prays for us. He helps
us deal with the challenges of life. He helps us turn from our old ungodly life
and turn us toward God. He helps us live a new life and transforms our life.
“Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a
new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17 RSV)
God bless you as you read His words.
