TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE WE NEED THE FORGIVENESS OF GOD

Sin brings all the problems and suffering in life and death to all. The Bible tells us that we all have sin and need the forgiveness from God.
"There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins." (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
We have done things that are displeasing to God, which makes us deserving of punishment. Since all our sins are ultimately against an eternal God, only an eternal punishment is sufficient.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." (1John 1:8 )
All sin is ultimately an act of rebellion against God (Psalms 51:4). As a result, we desperately need God’s forgiveness.
If our sins are not forgiven, we will spend eternity suffering the consequences of our sins.
“Then they (sinners)  will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. ” (Matthew 25:46)
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” (John 3:36).

Because of Your Unbelief

( From ‘Divine Healing  by Andrew Murray  Chapter 2)
“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you~~ (Matt. 17:19, 20).
When the Lord Jesus sent His disciples into different parts of Palestine, He endued them with a double power, that of casting out unclean spirits and that of healing all sickness and all infirmity (Matt. 10:1). He did the same for the seventy who came back to Him with joy, saying, “Lord, even the spirits are subject unto us through thy name” (Luke 10:17).On the day of the Transfiguration, while the Lord was still upon the mountain, a father brought his son who was possessed with a demon, to His disciples, beseeching them to cast out the evil spirit, but they could not. When, after Jesus had cured the child, the disciples asked Him why they had been unable to do it themselves as in other cases, He answered them,“because of your unbelief.” It was, then, their unbelief, and not the will of God which had been the cause of their defeat.
In our days divine healing is very little believed in, because it has almost entirely disappeared from the Christian Church. One may ask the reason, and here are the two answers which have been given. The greater number think that miracles, the gift of healing included, should be limited to the time of the primitive Church, that their object was to establish the first foundation of Christianity, but that from that time circumstances have altered. Other believers say unhesitatingly that if the Church has lost these gifts, it is by her own fault; it is because she has become worldly that the Spirit acts but feebly in her; it is because she has not remained in direct and habitual relation with the full power of the unseen world; but that if she were to see anew springing up within her men and women who live the life of faith and of the Holy Spirit, entirely consecrated to their God, she would see again the manifestation of the same gifts as in former times. Which of these two opinions coincides the most with the Word of God? Is it by the will of God that the “gifts of healing” have been suppressed, or is it rather man who is responsible for it? Is it the will of God that miracles should not take place? Will He in consequence of this no longer give the faith which produces them?Or again, is it the Church which has been guilty of lacking faith?

Pardon and Healing

( From ‘Divine Healing’  by Andrew Murray   Chapter 1)
“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, take up thy bed and go unto thine house” (Matt. 9:6).
In man two natures are combined. He is at the same time spirit and matter, heaven and earth, soul and body. For this reason, on one side he is the son of God, and on the other he is doomed to destruction because of the Fall; sin in his soul and sickness in his body bear witness to the right which death has over him. It is the twofold  nature  which has been redeemed by divine grace. When the Psalmist calls upon all that is  within  him  to  bless  the  Lord  for  His benefits, he cries, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, who . . . forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases” (Ps. 103: 3).
When Isaiah foretells the deliverance of  his people, he adds, “The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick; the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity” (Isa. 33:24).    This prediction was accomplished beyond all anticipation when Jesus the Redeemer came down to this earth. How numerous were the healings wrought by Him who was come to establish upon earth the kingdom of heaven! Whether by His own acts or whether afterwards by the commands which He left for His disciples, does He not show us clearly that the preaching of the Gospel and the healing of the sick went together in the salvation which He came to bring? Both are given as evident proof of His mission as the Messiah: “The blind receive their sight and the lame walk.., and the poor have the Gospel preached to them” (Matt. 11: 5). Jesus, who took upon Him the soul and body of man, delivers both in equal measure from the consequences of sin.
This truth is nowhere more evident or better demonstrated than in the history of the paralytic. The Lord Jesus begins by saying to him,  “Thy sins be forgiven thee,” after  which He  adds, “Arise and walk.” The pardon of sin and the healing of sickness complete one the other, for in the eyes of God,who sees our entire nature, sin and sickness are as closely united as the body and the soul. In accordance with the Scriptures, our Lord Jesus has regarded sin and sickness in another light than we have. With us sin belongs to the spiritual domain; we recognize that it is under God’s just displeasure, justly condemned by Him, while sickness, on the contrary, seems only a part of the present condition of our nature, and to have nothing to do with God’s condemnation and His righteousness. Some go so far as to say that sickness is a proof of the love and grace of God.
But neither the Scripture nor yet Jesus Christ Himself ever spoke of sickness in this light, nor do they ever present sickness as a blessing, as a proof of God’s love which should be borne with patience. The Lord spoke to the disciples of divers sufferings which they should have to bear, but when He speaks of sickness, it is always as of an evil caused by sin and Satan, and from which we should be delivered. Very solemnly He declared that every disciple of His would have to bear his cross (Matt. 16:24), but He never taught one sick person to resign himself to be sick. Everywhere Jesus healed the sick, everywhere He dealt with healing as one of the graces belonging to the kingdom of heaven. Sin in the soul and sickness in the body both bear witness to the power of Satan, and “the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil” (I John 3:8).

Praying Like Crazy

From : Dealing With Troubles  by Dr. Feddes
After David killed Goliath, he became a popular military leader. Saul became jealous of David’s popularity. Saul tried to kill him. David went into hiding, going from place to place. On his way out of the country, David went to Goliath’s home town. David went to the court of Achish, the king of Gath. Almost immediately some of the king’s assistants began to talk. They said to Achish, “Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands?’” That song was first sung after David killed Goliath of Gath. It may have been sweet music to David’s countrymen, but it didn’t sound so good to people back in Goliath’s hometown.
When David heard them talking like this, his heart sank. In trying to escape Saul’s frying pan, he had landed right in the middle of Achish’s fire. David was very much afraid of Achish. There he stood, all alone, surrounded by people who saw him as their worst enemy, at the mercy of a king who could have him killed on the spot.

HE HEARS US

- By Billy Graham (Daily Devotion Jan 8)
“What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe . . .” (Mark 11:24)

We are to pray in times of adversity, lest we become faithless and unbelieving. We are to pray in times of prosperity, lest we become boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, lest we become fearful and doubting. We need to pray in times of security, lest we become self-sufficient.
Sinners, pray to a merciful God for forgiveness.
Christians, pray for an outpouring of God’s Spirit upon a willful, evil, unrepentant world.
Parents, pray that God may crown your home with grace and mercy.
Children, pray for the salvation of your parents.
Christians, saints of God, pray that the dew of heaven may fall on earth’s dry, thirsty ground, and that righteousness may cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Be An Encourager

By Hope on Dec 31, 2013  From the series Prayer Letter
Scripture: Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32
Have you ever heard the term "a pat on the back"? When someone does something well, people might congratulate them by patting their back or shoulder. Some people like receiving high-fives, handshakes, or hugs in response to a job well done.
Showing Appreciation
When you do something well, how do people let you know? And how does that make you feel? When someone indicates appreciation for my work -- or even my effort toward a task -- it makes me feel good. It encourages me to continue to work hard and to do my best.
How do you show someone that you appreciate what they have done? And how do they respond? When you show appreciation, you motivate people to continue in the work they need to do -- including the work God has given them.
Encourage Each Other
The Bible instructs us to encourage each other in the Lord's work: "Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them" (Ephesians 4:29). It tells believers to "encourage each other and build each other up" (I Thessalonians 5:11). Showing appreciation to others can strengthen and encourage them to walk in God's ways.

TAKE TIME TO REST IN PEACE WITH GOD

We are busy all the time, at least mentally, committing mistake for our physical and spiritual well-being. Busy all the time is good for progress but may harm us physically, mentally as well as spiritually. It disturbs our relationship with One who Loves and Cares us – our Creator God.
We must follow Jesus. He must always be our model. He was busy with people but set aside time to spend with Father in Heaven. The Bible tells us that  –
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed," Mark,1:35
 We also find in Luke,
"But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer," Luke 5:16.

Showing Appreciation

" One of the lepers, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice." – Luke 17:15

In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

In Jesus’ time, leprosy was much worse than a skin disease – those who suffered from it were considered “unclean” and thus lost their jobs, families and friends.

I’m sure all ten of the men whom Jesus healed of leprosy (Luke 17:11-19) FELT extremely grateful. Yet only one came back to Jesus and verbally thanked him. The Lord commended this man’s act of grateful appreciation, which was recorded for all of history.

Our condition before coming to know Jesus was much worse than leprosy! We were considered unclean by God (whose opinion is the only one that matters); we had lost our relationship with Him; and we were doomed to eternal suffering and punishment. To put it another way, we were dead in our sins (Ephesians 2:1).

Yet through God’s great mercy, we have been “made alive with Christ” (Ephesians 2:5). Because of what Jesus did on the cross, our many sins have been forgiven, we are restored to right standing with God, and we will live forever in joyful fellowship with Him and His children. How much more should we thank Him every day for these and a hundred other blessings!

Giving thanks regularly is not only a command--it is good for us! Numerous studies, even by non-believers, clearly show that people who express gratitude as a way of life are more happy and emotionally healthy.

Happy New Year!

As 2013 winds down, are you making New Year's Resolutions? One of mine is to turn my life completely over to God and stop worrying about the future and having a successful life. Matthew 6:25-29 is encouraging on this issue! “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
What are you worried about for 2014? Take a look at one of the "secrets" for success in 2014 from the Bible's viewpoint. (http://www.godlife.com/luis-palau/articles-for-growth/finding-the-secret-of-a-successful-christian-life)

God's blessing for you for 2014!
