Once, one
of our community leader, respectable and educated, was given a speech in the
Church, he said that he met a very desperate person in train, who wanted to
kill himself considering himself the most unlucky person. The leader thought
the best way to comfort that person was to share the love of God as reveal in
the Gospel. But he did not know how to tell him and blamed our Pastors never
teaching him and other Church members how to share the love of God in Christ.
Since
then, I have published small booklets and distributed among our Church members
from my short messages in social media, though I am not Pastor. I have
presented such papers many times when I preached in our Church. Here, I post
again, a very simple but effective way of sharing the Gospel from the teachings
of many good evangelists:
The key
verse is :
“For God
so loved the World that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him will
not perish but have eternal life.”(John 3:16)
From this verse, we find four simple truths that sum up the Gospel of God
in Jesus Christ :
1.God
Love US:
Tell him
that God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. We can have
relation with Him by receiving His Son Jesus as lord and Saviour, who died for
the forgiveness of our sin.
“But God
demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
2. Sin
Separated Us From God :
We all do
wrong – in word, deed and thought. God is good and loving. We human beings are
very wicked compare to God. We do not follow God’s word, will and plan. Disobedience to God is ‘Sin’. This ‘Sin’
separates us from a loving, perfect God. We have rebelled against Him and
refused to follow Him. By going our own way, we have missed the perfect plan
God had for us.
Therefore,
the Bible says, “for all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
We must
die of our sin, “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23a)
But God
is Love ( 1John 4:8) He sent his Son that we will not perish, but have eternal
life?” (John 3:16)
3. Jesus
Come to Save Us:
God love
us so much that He does not wants us to perish but have everlasting life with
Him. So, “He gave his only Son…” so that
all who believe in Him may have eternal life.
We have
nothing to do to earn salvation from eternal death. We are just to believe.
Salvation
is a gift, not something you have to earn. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
“For the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
4.
Believe in Him : To have the forgiveness of God, one must believe in Jesus
Christ. The Bible says”Whoever believes in Him…”
Like any
gift, you must choose to accept it. AGREE that Jesus is the only Son of God and
ACCEPT that he paid for YOUR sins on the cross and rose again to give you life.
Invite
people to pray with you to accept Jesus.
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ” (John
1:12)
Remember
: You don’t need to know ALL the ways and means. You only need to know that
only through Jesus you can have salvation.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me.” (John 14:6).
Study the
Bible regularly with earnest prayer. Memorize the above four simple truths and scriptures so that you can
share the Gospel with others.
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have..” (1 Peter 3:15b).
Pray and
ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and power. The Holy Spirit who helps people
accepts Christ; we are just pointing the way.
Always
pray that God may always help you live a good Christian life and also pray
that you may share His Gospel with
others effectively.
