God created the whole universe from nothing (ex nihilo). He created man
and breathed life in us (Genesis
2:7). He is the source (provider) of
life. Life without the Him, source of life is ‘death’ (spiritually). According to Apostle Paul, all believers have
died with Christ and no longer live for themselves. The life we lives are no longer
worldly, but spiritual life. Our old sin nature has died on the cross with
Christ, buried with Him, and raised us up spiritually with Christ to “walk in
newness of life” (Romans 6:4). This new life is referred by Paul as the “New Creation.”
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
This ‘New Life’ is not the own creation by believer but is the creation of God, the Creator. The believer become ‘New Creation’ by the grace of God, through faith. Because, ‘ Salvation’ is not by work but through faith in Christ. This ‘New birth’ is brought by the will of God (John 1:13).
The old nature of believers has died with Jesus on the cross and was
buried with Him in the grave. The “old
nature” of non-believers are pride, love of worldly pleasure, reliance on
works, bad habits and passions, supreme love of self and with it
self-righteousness, self-promotion, and self-justification. All such old nature
are replaced by a new nature, Christ-like nature when one received ‘New Life in
Christ’; “new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”
(Ephesians 4:24).
May God bless you with
this blessed life in Christ.
