God created man to have close relationship with Him. God created woman (Eve) to be a helper and companion of man (Adam). Genesis chapter 2 says that after God had created Adam,He created Eve to be his helper, read : “ The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18) “ Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:22)’
Therefore, God’s design is that we must have relationship with Him and also have relationship with other human beings as friends, family, co-workers, neighbours and so on.
Jesus tells us that our first duty is to love our Creator God and love others as well saying
”‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-39).
The best love one can show to others is to help them find our Creator God and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Helping others with materials and other helps are also necessary, must be done as fellowbeings. But the most important is to tell them about the love of God and show them ways to find God and Jesus Christ. When they find God, they will receive the best help from God in every way. Jesus tells all His followers to spread the good news of the love of God and salvation in Jesus Christ. By telling others about Jesus and the salvation He gives us, our faith grows and we experience the love of God day be day.
In short, by ‘loving God’ we must obey His commands and ‘by loving others’ we must help them find God and extend helping them in other ways, too.
